If your partner is physically active, you’re 85% more likely to be regularly active also! Bottom line: if your significant other doesn’t exercise, get them on the exercise bandwagon as fast as possible. Make it a family affair!
Getting plenty of sleep will help you maintain your weight….and conversely, lack of sleep can cause increased weight gain. There are many reasons, but one of them is a hormone called GHRELIN. Basically, the more ghrelin you have, the hungrier you are. When you don't get enough sleep, ghrelin levels go up. Result: people who are tired just tend to be hungrier! Long story short get your rest in along with that workout!
For you folks trying to adhere to a new diet in 2018, I recommend that you plan to “cheat,” or allow yourself no more than 10% cheat foods. Remember that binging on snacks and will prolong future cravings! Do not deprive yourself of your favorite foods or you will never be able to stick to your diet plans. The key to weight loss is moderation, not deprivation. Slow and steady wins the race!
The common factor in all of the events of your life, have been and always will be you. No new job, workout, friend, or significant other can change your situation but you! To be the change that you want in life you have two options for yourself, be the way or be in the way!
Don’t attack weight loss on an “all or nothing” approach. This never works. Little steps are your best approach. Pick one thing each week to work on. Whatever it may be… getting an extra hour of sleep, drinking an extra glass of water per day, consuming more protein… small steps will always allow you to build up to a bigger reward.
Move Daily. Studies have shown that people who lose weight and keep it off, are committed to daily movement. For example... If you can burn around 300 extra calories each day (about a 3 mile walk) and do not increase your caloric intake, you could easily lose 30 pounds in one year! Move it and lose it!!!
Did you know your body heals 8x faster when you regularly exercise? Circulating fresh oxygen and blood through your body helps to flush toxic build-up from your cells. Some exercise is always better than none. Something to think about with all of this "flu drama" going around and yet another reason to get yourself moving. No excuses!
Trying to find some more time in your day? Try "No TV" for the rest of the week! Might seem like an impossible task, but after a while you’ll start to realize how much more productive you are and how much more valuable it is doing “anything else!” Spend that time with your family or friends or getting physically active instead, if only for a walk! Even just turning off the news (which is a constant stream of negativity) will make a big difference! Are you up for the challenge? Just my thoughts...
2018 is here! That means that some of you are beginning your New Year Resolutions and for some of you that may mean a brand new diet that includes eating clean and all natural. Ever wonder what “all natural” really means on your packaging?! Manufacturers can mislead by adding certain words on their packaging which can make it confusing. Here is a short video on what “all natural” really means. (Warning- it’s a little bit edgy!) Just my thoughts... Let me know what you think!
As you countdown to 2018, and before you get too tipsy, take time to think about three things that weren’t in line with you or your goals this past year. Those three things are time tested and are solid in your world; never forget to show your appreciation for the good in your life.
On the flip side, think about three things that have been counterproductive to you and or your goals in 2017. Leave those things behind; the fact that they even made this list is evidence enough that they will serve you no purpose in 2018. A fit mind will make a fit body, just my thoughts… #self#love #newyear
